“It’s about business”
More than 20 members of the association met at the association headquarters of Industry Business Network 4.0 e.V. at the beginning of March for the quarterly working group meeting. In doing so, the goals for the current year were set out together. The focus was on the construction of reference plants, in the context of which the association will demonstrate which added value makes cross-manufacturer networking possible.
Prof. Dr Heiner Lasi, Director of the Ferdinand Steinbeis Institute and Professor of Industrial Intelligence at Steinbeis University Berlin, was guest speaker at the event, especially as a representative of the German Country Team of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC). He highlighted the experiences that the IIC has made in relation to the construction of reference systems – also called testbeds. “It’s vital that everyone involved in such an implementation understands that it’s less about technology than business,” said Lasi. In the end, the benefits to the user will determine whether a new digital solution is gaining ground in the marketplace.
Next session in June: first use cases will be presented
The next working group meeting is planned for June – then the working groups want to present first use cases on the topics of gas supply, sheet metal processing, welding and retrofit, which are to be demonstrated in the framework of the planned reference plants.
